3BALL

THE ASK

Spectators & ballers taken to a whole new level!  Fresh Wata excels at creating custom immersive experiences and producing world’s first and world class events.  We are experts and have a passion for producing corporate events, incentive programs and building out experiential events as well as exhibits to ignite brand presence at trade shows.

Fresh Wata joined the movement in Silicon Valley with 3BALL USA and loved every minute of producing this sporting event which was also streamed live on Twitch and viewed by thousands of visitors. Four months of planning went into this 3 day basketball tournament leading up to the championship game.  Fresh Wata coordinated an action packed weekend of entertainment and basketball for 3X3 fans and employees who have come together to make this dream of getting it into the Olympics into a reality.

This style of streetball is different from pickup games on the playground.  The 3×3 showcase was recently added as a new OLYMPIC SPORT all thanks to Fiba 3×3.

Sporting events are exciting because of the players and the fan engagement, not to mention the teams we had in Silicon Valley were competing in an high energy environment for a $50,000 cash prize.

Fresh Wata was asked to build out a streetball court and tournament in an empty parking lot at The Great Mall, Milpitas that was unlike any other in the world and streamed live for viewers around the world.  The client wanted a space for guests to explore and engage with basketball in a new way that included and experiential elements and atmosphere with food trucks, activations and various designed out environments for fan engagement that surrounded the court for 1000 guests.  We enjoyed collaborating with Simon Property group on this 3 day activation and ticketed event.

THE SOLUTION

While the client focused on building out the league and gathering the teams; Fresh Wata focused on logistics, design and project management starting with an empty venue and parking lot.  Once the design and footprint was in place our production team focused on creating fun experiences that fit in budgets as well as laying out the power, lighting design, audio system, restrooms, locker rooms, catering, merchandise booth and overall site services.  Traffic plans, security and permitting was crucial to the events safety and success as we gathered engineered drawings, mapped out traffic flow and develop check in and a box office.  Building a first ever event is exciting and also much more detailed as there are new elements and teams that join together to create the events overall success.

Onsite our team enjoyed being around top athletes and incredible basketball players.  We spent time chatting with Team Serbia & the New Yorkies and getting their locker room and uniforms ready for the big game.  Serbia has the best 3×3 player in the world, Dusan Domovic-Bulut, as well as two gold medalist Tamas Ivosev and Dejan Majstorovic.  Dominique Jones played at Fort Hayes State near our owner’s home town.  David Seagers from the Bronx, Antoine Morgani and Anthony Cox were the champs this weekend beating The America and Novi Sad Serbia. Although we were hard at work prepping the bleachers, scoreboard, jumbotron and working with the refs and vendors as doors began to open,  FW enjoyed the camaraderie and meeting with the players.  We had time slots for each team to get a feel for the courts and practice.

With much preparation, teamwork and attention to details we had a successful event and one of the first of its kind.  We relied on multiple software programs and experts in their field to track game stats so viewers around the world could follow live on the broadcast with our data capture.  We set the court with lighting that allowed for good camera angles for filming and night games.

MC, Vince Chang was key to the event’s flow and success between games he kept energy lively.  We worked with great local talent to build a halftime show. The Oregon Cheerleaders elevated the venue. Stunt dogs, a slam dunk contest, lion dancers, moving lights, live music, DJ, dancers, brand ambassadors and fan engagement is important.  Merchandise, giveaways and raffles also add to the overall experience and provide valuable data to our customers along the way.  Multiple parties and individuals contributed to the overall success from the slam dunk contest judges to the sound engineer, shot clock keeper, lighting designers, crisp Audio, referees, tv production team with their satellite trailer and wrapping up with the strike and clean up crew.  Everyone had an important role in the success and FW aided in overall event management execution all the way from building out the arena to tournament operations, and executing the semi finals and championship game.  Of course a big shout out to all the teams that competed: The Dunkin Dobermans, Magnificent Mutts, The Hungry Huskies, The New Yorkies, Novi Sad Serbia, The Leaping Labradors, All American, The Chompin Chihuahuas, Sina China, The Golden Gate Retrievers.
